Exporting 2d images
-
Hello everyone
Basic question: is there a way to export 2d images from SU that are of higher quality than the 72 dpi that is standard? Anything cheap or free for this purpose?
Also, this may seem really dumb to the pros, but can you access SU settings within the project window, or do you have to change them in the opening dialog box - the thing that is apparently impossible to close?
Thanks,
B

DPI settings are for printing (i.e. "translating" digital resolution to printers) while in digital images there is only pixels (certainly you can set dpi in image editors for printing later).
Just export your image in higher resolution and you can set dpi when printing to whatever you want.
An example: fine quality printing is generally around 300 dpi - i.e. the printer will put 300 paint dots per inch. If you want to have a 10" wide image printed at 300 dpi, it means that you need to export at 3000 pixel resolution from SU.
What SU settings and what dialog (and why cannot ou close it)?

Thanks..
I didnt see that "settings" button on the export dialog box.
Re: settings, Im referring to global settings like units setup...When I open SU 8, there is a dialog box that opens that has no closing button.
More importantly, is there a way to turn off the darkened endpoints of lines? I know this is done as an imitation of architectural sketching, but I would rather just do without it for my purposes.

Ah, so you mean the welcome screen? Just uncheck the "always show on startup" box at the bottom left.
As for the endpoints; go to Window > Styles > In model > Edit > Edge settings and uncheck endpoints. Best is to do this with an empty, new file - then update your style (click on its image with the two, round arrows) or even make any other changes you like then go to the File menu > Save as template (and don't forget to check at the bottom left to use this as default).
