Spaceship Designers
-
Hello there, Sketchup fans. I am a comic book artist embarking on a comic book project that is set in outer space. I've been using sketchup for quite a while, and I can use it just okay. Not great, just okay. Mostly, I rely on the warehouse for furnishings, buildings and stuff. But for this particular comic, I need a custom and very unusual spaceship. The basic idea is that it is made out of space junk. It is rough, asymmetrical, has mismatching engines and components, is blocky, anything but sleek, and it's used as a kind of space tugboat/tow truck. Unfortunately for me, it so unique that I cannot make the model all by myself. I have some sketches and photos of things I like, but I'm not completely dialed in on any one particular design. There's lots of room for creativity here. Would anybody be interested in building a spaceship that will feature prominently in a cool comic book?
By the way, the way I use Sketch Up in my comics is as reference only. I build or find the objects I need, and then I find the camera angles I want to use and I make 2d snapshots, and these I use as reference. No direct incorporating of renders, I draw everything by hand. But having a model of the complex interrelationships of shapes and components is a tremendous help when composing complex scenes and objects.
Please, if anybody is interested in making a custom spaceship model, feel free to contact me. If we can agree on terms and credit, perhaps we can do some business.
