Fillings, textures and jagged lines
-
Hi,
I'm doing a construction model in Sketchup and are using layout for creating blueprints in black and white. I have som problems with the output from Layout for several reasons.
I made some section cuts in Sketchup and would like to visualize fillings or materials, for example stone filling and a cut concrete surface.
Regarding the output from Layout i would like to keep in highest quality possible, i.e. vector graphics. For the fillings rasterized textures would do. This would suggest me using the hybrid mode in Layout.
However, when using hybrid mode all lines that are not horizontal or vertical becomes strangely jagged (see attached pdf).
To resolve the issue i have created vector lines in Sketchup for material and fillings but this is way time consuming (20-30 section cuts). Have anyone encountered this issue before and knows a way to resolve the jagged lines in hybrid mode?
Kind Regards
Stefan

What is your output quality setting when exporting?

Hi,
Have set the output to high, that isn't the problem. I've explored it some more and found the cause, but no solution.I have attached a sketchup, layout and pdf file if someone would like to follow my thoughts on this.
Bottom line is that when making a section cut on a angled line it seems like two lines are created. Se my layout and pdf file.
It doesn't matter how you cut the face, i tried with "Addsectioncutface.rb" and painting backside of face with texture with no luck.
Noone had this problem before? Is it a SK8 - LO3 problem?

Hi Stefan,
Yes, I can also see the issue. First I thought it is because of the section cut face edges inferring with the section cut's own edges***** but even when I hid them it became not much better. I think the issue may be that these section cut lines are not actually vector lines but only some visual substitution therefore cannot even get rendered as vector. The problem is that you cannot even turn section cut edges off.
*****TIG's plugin actually creates a section slice group, adds faces where it supposes it should add and moves the whole thing back just a little bit so that the real section cut will not hide / cut it away.

Thank you for the replies and ideas Gaieus!
I'm thinking of the best shortcut solution for this...
Would it be possible with a Rubyscript to hide the section cut, i.e. setting the width to zero or hide it?
If it would be possible the problem would be solved and you could use the Hybrid-mode in LO.Otherwise I would have to create fake vector fillings in the voids in SU to be able to use Vector-mode in LO.
Any other suggestions for workarounds?

The problem is that if you hide the section cut, it will not cut at all. If you go to the styles settings and uncheck it, you can see. I have no idea if setting this from a plugin would make it behave differently.
