PlayUp Alpha ver. 0.9.1.620 is now available for download.

In this build, the CryEngine2 exporter is LIGHTNING fast in comparison to the last update (what would take 2 minutes before now takes 2 seconds), and we have fixed a bug where models missing material data on any of the front faces would not export correctly.

Another nice addition is that PlayUp will no longer be in conflict with other plugins such as LightUp or SketchyPhysics.

      Enjoy!

Glad to see this, I am currently working in Hammer, but will get back into the CryEngine soon.

Make sure and post this information on the Crymod website in this thread:

I've just started trying to import models into crysis and thought playup would be the perfect plugin -- I still think it would be if I could get it to work.
I always get the wxruby missing error (this is using SU8 on win7 64-bit). I've tried manually installing wxruby but that doesn't seem to change anything.
I tried installing it on a a copy of SU7 and that worked once -- so I thought it was fixed -- but every time since it get's the same error as above.

I'm posting this not so much to complain (although if someone has a solution I'd love to hear it) but to mention a work-around that seems to work:

Model units set to decimal, meters
TIG's obj exporter after purging (haven't tried using groups or components so I'm not sure, yet, if those would be a problem)
Blender import of obj (using blender 2.56)
            export as collada
converted to cgf (crysis format) with colladacgf

After that the model was imported into sandbox with no problems. One odd thing is that I used a jpg in SU (sized 512x512) and crysis (warhead) worked just fine with the jpg -- I thought it only could use dds?
Anyway, I've only just gotten this to work this morning and look forward to trying it more but I'm pretty excited about it.

Knowledge is a polite word for dead but not buried imagination.

@Sir - Try the latest build just released today. It fixes some compatibility issues with SketchUp 8.

Thanks for PlayUp Nintari. It is a useful step in my work-flow.

A couple of questions for you:

                  1. Would CryEngine 1 (Far Cry) .cgf export be possible and easy to add to PlayUp?

                  2. If possible but not easy, could I help to get it implemented in some way? (Research the format specifications, for example)

                  All the best.

                    Hey CV,

Supporting a new engine is generally not a minor undertaking, so I've made it a point to stick to engines that are free, current and popular. At this point in time, CE1 is now pretty old and not very popular, so it really isn't worth the level of effort it would probably take me to support it.

For the sake of experimentation though, you could try to setup the CE2 export settings in PlayUp to point to the CE1 information and see what happens.

Why not upgrade to CE2 or CE3?

                    Best,
                    Nintari
