Ok..here's the deal..I have a term paper coming up about strategic plans of institutions, NGO and companies. Normally I would just have to choose something "interesting" and lose the will to live while writing the friggin' paper. So I had an idea 💭 . What if I could write something I actually knew stuff and felt passionately about so as to make this project more fun and survive the next few days.

I chose to look into SU..and there's a big shocker not much is available on the net in that area 😞 While I have some ideas on what to write I don't have lots of hard facts.
If you know where I may find more info or have ideas on the subjects please let me know.

The graphic below is a rough guide for what I have to make up or analyse.

Maybe I picked a too norrow division in Google, is there a 3d/Graphic/division that would be more suited for such a thing?

Any thoughts and suggestions are very welcome.

    Thank you.

You might be better of looking in to google earth and sketchup, as thats what google seems to be promoting sketchup for (at least it was last time i checked, been out of the loop for a while.)

You might want to consider how 3D modeling in SketchUp, and their inclusion into Google Earth is tied directly to Google Places Pages. That might be an angle to search from.

Maps, local searches, and business information seem to be the direction it is all going. Not to mention mobile.

Google is a public traded company so they file info with our Securities and Exchange Commission. Do a search on that and see if that leads to anything related to Sketchup. As a minimum there may be info on company officials or departments you can contact and request info. Don't forget to do a Google search where you may find some blogs on the subject also. Check info of the 2010 Basecamp http://sites.google.com/site/3dbasecamp2010/basecamp-videos for some info. Real( In depth) plans will not be overly publicized as they are in the business to make money and don't want to give too much info to the competition. Even employees unless they are level 1, 2,3 mangers will probably not have much info either.

You post got me curious so did limited search. What I found is what is was afraid I would find. The Google Security and Exchange fillings by them is very vanilla. I logged on to the Google Labs to see what they were posting without much in sight there either. The 2010 base camp presentation by John Backus for SU 8 release gives you a feel where they will be going. You can get the corporates VP name from that also for possible contact. Have not found a SU org chart which many times are not well published. You my want to e mail Jonh Bacus and see if he is willing to provide you any info. He does post on the help forum at times.

Thanks very much guys. I appreciate the help.
I ended up switching to Google as a whole, a much less pleasurable topic, but did find more info.
At least I'm finally done with all my exams,I handed the paper in today.

A bit late for you but this is an interesting article .

The first para sets the tone:-

"Google isn’t a web application company—they’re an advertising company. That’s what they do best, and that’s what drives their company. Of Google’s $23.6 billion of revenue in 2009, all but $760 million of it was derived from advertising, and nearly 70 percent of it was from Google’s own websites."

                  So... follow the money.

                  Chris
