Setting up shadows in sketchup 8
-
I am using google earth 6 and Sketchup 8. I am trying to set up the shadows on my building model. The sketchup help seems to be refering to different versions of these programs. Does any one have a simple way of placing the model in the right location and orientation so that shadows work properly. Thanks

Your profile still says SU version 7.1.
I am just mentioning because there is a big difference how you geo-reference your model in SU 7 (and prior) and now in SU 8. Here is how you would go about it in SU 8:

As you probably know, SketchUp is designed to locate the model accurately on the planet, and cast shadows according to any selected date time. If for purposes of presentation, the shadows are not as you might desire, you can rotate your model, or use the script located here to move the shadow around the model by large increments. Once a approximate setting is achieved, SketchUp date time is used to finalize the shadow positions.
