My files don't show thumbnail images anymore :(
-
Hi everyone!
I just got a new computer...moved all my old Sketchup 6 (I think) files over and downloaded the new Sketchup 8 onto my new computer. I opened my old SU files and they work fine but the thing is none of my thumbnail files have an image! This is absolutely awful - as I relied on the image more than the name of the file and I have hundreds of files. Does anyone know how I can get the images back...I'm feeling lost! Help?

Hi Tracey,
New computer, new OS - I believe you used to have a 32 bit system and now you have a 64 bit one?
Unfortunately 64 bit Windows cannot natively display file thumbnails. There is some kind of workaround (maybe one with a 64 bit OS can chime in, I forget where I read...)

Thanks for answering! Yes, I have a 64 bit computer now I sure hope someone out there has a solution. Fingers crossed!

Hello
I have the same problem. Is there no solution yet?

You could try installing XnView, the free image browser and editor. Besides being able to read dozens of different graphic formats it also displays SU thumbnails. You can get it here for a wide range of operating systems.
Both skp and even skb are mentioned in its list of readable formats, but for some wierd reason SU is listed as an Autodesk product.
