Need some snow

I tried earthmovers second method, using the Krill create mesh from points plugin, all was OK up until the Krill plugin either didn't work or I missed something. The progress bar went to 100% and no mesh, perhaps I didn't allow enough time, for it to work, but I am doing it again on another computer, and letting it sit for a while. Anyone try this recently?

Here is a simple way to get snow, note that this is just a basic method and for a better coverage I'd suggest tweaking it further using sculpting tools.
Okay, the scene is direct from 3D warehouse.
Copy the roof and paste as new geometry:
Paint it white, and using JPP (joint push pull) select all faces and pull up like this:
Now the fun part, using SDS (subdivide and smooth original version) subdivide the mesh, I used 3 iriterations:
Now that this is done, fit your snow to roof, feel free to modify and bend as needed, I use FFD, fredoscale, and basic scaling tools to get it to fit better:
So now you have basic snow, feel free to use sculpting tools (either BTM's tools or wait for new SDS2) to make it look more realistic.

Problem is I don't have SDS granted it is only 22 bucks, but that is s lot of cash for a tool when you are broke with no, or little chance for a return on your investment. Good idea though,

Maybe you can try round corners and after add some irregularities with Sculpt Tools?

Absolutely, there is no right or wrong way, this way you can subtract from mesh to make irregularities.

Found this plugin for 3ds Max. I don't use Max but saw this and just though it was pretty cool. If only they made a similar script for SketchUp . . .
It's a bit pricey though. About $62 US dollars.

Bump. I think back to the days of model challenges for Halloween and Christmas--which I enjoyed a lot but I don't think I ever felt good enough to join in. Maybe folks would like to make some Christmas cards and share them. Maybe we'll put snow on our current clients' house models for the Holidays and share with them (though the houses will be in California).
