Request for plugin

I am looking for a plugin that will constrain selected groups to a main group So that when the main group is resized the constrained groups will change in size but stay constrained to a specified amount. For example group1 (the main group) that is a retangle 12" x 12" wtith group2 that is a retangle 10" x 10" inside Group1(the maine group)group2 will stay 2" smaller than group1(the main group)when it is resized.

I believe what you're looking for is a dynamic component.

Yes a dynamic component might work. But I am working with The free version and am not able to creat these type of components. Also I am useing the export as dxf plugin to creat cnc files for routing.Mdf doors to be specific. So each group has to be on a layer of its own and the layer and group has to be named the same example outline z0p75.I have not tryed sending componets to the machine yet. -
I agree with Miguel, it sounds like you should spring for the pro version so you can make Dynamic Components.
Have you tried exporting a file with groups assigned to different layers? Does it do what you need for your CNC files? I wonder because in SketchUp, layers are only used for controlling visibility and do not separate entities.

Yes this is the only way that it has worked so far.If the part does not require multable layers I do not have to group them.If the part requires mutable layers then I have to assigne groups to these layers and name the group the same as the layer.Example the outline cut would be on a layer named outline z0p75.Then the group would be named outline z0p75.If I want a pocket cut inside the outline layer this layer would be named pocket z0p375.Then group the pocket and name the group pocket z0p375. Make sure the layers that are to be machined are turned on and all groups are selected then export as dxf, inches, lines.Name the file with .dxf at the end of the file name load the file to the machine and cut. -
Do you even need layers, then? Could you just name the groups and be done with it?

I have thought of that but havent had a chance to test it yet.But layers do help by being able to turn them off and on as needed especialy when working with alot of groups/layrs. for example a 6 light glass door would have 14 layers total.
