Scenes/dimensions problems
-
I'm meeting serious issues with dimensioning in layout but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. My common workflow is to create scenes in sketchup for each LO page saving every setting there for the scene, import it from LO on different pages and try to do the dimensioning for each. Later on I often still modify the sketchup model but never update those scenes created for layout - so I think the work done in LO should remain untouched for these.
The two most common problems I'm meeting are:
- getting the model "shifted" in Layout to some directions, causing dimension lines become inaccurate (and appear "~" before the number)
- lines/object hidden for a specific scene re-appearing in LO.
These events unfortunately seem to happen randomly and unfortunately I cannot reproduce them but they appear often in daily use.
I admin I'm a real beginner with LO but I'd like to learn which of my moves might cause such problems. Also, is my workflow correct or it's built on some incorrect assumptions? Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi kjozsa (and welcome),
Is by any chance auto-update on for your inserted SU models in LO?
Also, would this happen if you selected all the dimension entities and the inserted SU model and grouped them before making those changes?
Your problem is quite weird as when dimensions get disconnected from the SU model, they generally completely change to paper space and do not show some slightly inaccurate values but completely different ones.
(Amúgy meg üdv, mint a viszonylag kevés magyar tagok egyike is... Hacsak nem tévedek nagyot.)

Hi Gaieus,
Thank you for the answer! My dimension lines are somehow working properly again after correcting the wrong ones.
But I have another problem: the yellow exclamation marks on some of my layout pages. At the beginning they were there on every pages, but from some pages they disappeared. I like them to disappear from every pages
I read that this is in connection with some updates. The only update i did is right click on the imported model in layout and "update reference". What shall i do apart from this?Köszi

That's it actually. They mean that the inserted 2D view of the SU model is not updated to the latest changes of the model.
If it is a very complex model (and you are in hybrid or vector mode), you can leave them like that as updating may take long. Only update (manually) once in a while.
If it is a simple model however, you can turn auto update on in the Tray > SketchUp model tab and they will instantly update once you make some changes.
