Regarding brushed metals, in kerkythea there is a materials setting called anisotropic scatter. Aniso means unequal and with this setting light is scattered more or less than in one direction than the other. You need to get a good flat photo of a brushed metal to use as texture, then, in addition, you need to adjust the balance/imbalance of the anisotropic scatter.

Here's an update on my model and render. I decided to make a new design and expand the Schnitzer_Bruch House design. This version is on steroids . Tried some pp in photoshop but i'm not quite happy with the result. Needs some tweeking.

I really like the feeling in that last image.
But there is something odd about the window reflections, and the lack of any blue in the sky makes it go from cheerful to a littlebit drab.
