Well ... I tested SU8 Pro and my testing hours are gone (third time ๐Ÿ˜„ ) - and I am happy to go back to Free.
But, there was something nice in PRO: Solar North - nice at first sight, but not so nice after deeper look, because the only way I could use it, was by entering North Angle as a value. The visual rotator crashed SU every time.

Is any plugin that can visually rotate North in FREE version? I am not interested in real geo-location, but adjusting North direction to control where the Sun is. If isn't, would be difficult do make one?

Can't you rotate the model? Just select all, group, then rotate it.

Yes I can... but if it's a really big model it will be hard to rotate. And most of all, If I want to see how the shadow will fall from rendering view, it's a little hard, don't you think? ๐Ÿ˜„ To rotate the model, then switch back to preset scene, then rotating again...and so on.
Why do you ask this? is it difficult to rotate using ruby?

Don't know, haven't tried it. I think the Ruby Class to do this is here . Did you try a search for one?

            Hi,

Latitude and longitude aren't enough to set the sun correctly. I've a script to orient the model in SU6 free (long time ago...)
            Download it here: http://rhin.crai.archi.fr/rubylibrarydepot/plugin_details.php?id=169
            Try it in SU8 (I have not SU8 ๐Ÿ˜ณ )
And for latitude/longitude, you also have this: http://rhin.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/plugin_details.php?id=737
            These may also help: http://rhin.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/plugin_details.php?id=432

            Hope this helps,

See this web http://www.cerebralmeltdown.com/projects/sunplugin/ , you can download free plugin Sun Position, with this plugin you can change the angle North and hide/show it and you can see the sun position in your model with different options.
I hope this help you, bye.

Also Jim's Model Location plugin .

It's an ancient one from the time when adding manual location was not possible in the free version of SU. Time to dust it off?
