Quick question about layers
-
Hie everyone, I know this is probably a very simple answer but I just cant figure it out.
I am currently building a model for my Architecture tech course and I need to show the floor build up for example.
I know how to create new layers etc
And when I draw a shape on the floor and extrude it upwards (the floor and the new shape are on different layers) to show insulation for example, it works like it should but,
when I turn off the layer below the box, the box looses its faces and just the bounding edges remain.
Am I missing something here? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I do not know your workflow but there is one thing you should keep in mind; never put loose (raw, primitive call it different names) onto other than Layer 0 and only put groups and components on other layers.
Now I cannot tell what's wrong with your model so best would be if you attached it here so we can have a look at what went wrong.

Layers in SU are NOT like layers in CAD. In SU layers only control visibility -- they do not separate geometry. ALWAYS draw on Layer 0. If you want, say, to make the floors appear one by one in a buildup. Group the first floor, THEN move that group to Layer 1, Group second floor, then move to layer 2, etc. Make scenes where the appropriate layers are hidden or revealed as you move from scene to scene.
