Beautiful Modeler

Beautiful Modeler is a software tool for gestural sculpting using a multi-touch controller such as an iPad. Each finger is used to control a single touch point in the model, with multiple layers working to build up 3D volume. As the controller is connected over the wireless network, it can be moved freely to change the viewing angle of the model.

hmm.. the thread title is a bit misleading but...

yeah, i like where this is heading.. the mouse isn't in this equation and the drawing process is more intimate (meaning his hands are actually shaping instead of using a pointer & buttons etc)

i'm sure this trackpad/gesture thing is just going to go further and further and eventually you'll be able to do what he's doing in 3D space instead of on a flat panel (with better control & less blobness).. it's gonna be good.

I agree. I was expecting to see a pic or video of a very attractive person using modeling software. That 'Hand Model' was okay but not really in the "beautiful" category.

kind of like how iron man made his suit. The technology is here to do it with a little focus.

Maybe you missed the less blob part of my post.
I'm talking about technical drawings etc.
The mouse/keyboard/monitor setup is seriously outdated.

The iPad could become a bit heavy as an input device. It's used like a joystick with multitouch. A similar approach is this:

However they succeed in better controling the shapes (instead of a cluster of bubbles). As Jeff said, using all fingers in space would be the top solution.
