Paste In Place Problem

Hi,
I've always loved Paste In Place. Today, I am copying some 3d warehouse chairs with textures applied, from one model to another, and after copying & then using PiP, nothing happens. When trying again, then I got a group marked box -- with nothing inside. Also, I tried just the regular Control V edit, and nothing happened either.
What should I do? Thank you!

Firstly, how many version of SU do you have on your machine?
Are you trying to copy an SU 8 model and paste into a SU 7 scene? (two different versions) I know it sounds silly, but I once made this mistake.
