Terrain Stitching/merging tips for highest possible detail
-
Hi Guys.
I am trying to find a semi automation process, a workflow for stitching a large terrain from many patches.
Big area, an entire city....
I want to get a clean geometry to be able to use it to generate a height map for UDK or Unity. And be able to use it in Maya for animation and FX too:)
Is there a recommended way for doing this?
Are there any descriptions (tutorial style) you can point me to a direction?....Thank you in advance:)

There is a pretty cool plugin called Terrain reshaper:

It will take those terrains, clean them up, and re-triangulate them. I've heard some people say it does not always work, but I've not had any problems with it. So go download and install it, and see if you can get it to work. Post back with questions and progress

Thank you for fast reply.
I am trying to merge two terrain patches from GE.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
I am not sure about the inner workings of the script, maybe its not designed for the task I need to accomplish? Maybe there's other method for doing this?
When I execute it it seems to be working but the pop up window never shows up...and than it quits without confirmation....it does work on a single terrain patch thouI need to make a large terrain from a number of patches with clean topology and preferably the UVs and textures to be used in an art project that is a simulation of a part of a city....Plllllease help shed some light
cheers
