hi guys! i have dilemmas on how to make my sketches look more realistic, how to make background images (scenery type) and how to view small plans look bigger that will fit in on my window without seeing the walls or even the blank spaces.

by the way im using sketchup 7 with idx plugin.

totally appreciated all your answers thanks

kc10, for idx, maybe you can bet better help on their forum. It also helps to post a image of your problem. As I recall, background images are included in the idx environment menu. You should be able to select your view in Sketchup, then render in idx by matching screen size.

hi sir thank you for your time to answer my question. i will follow your advice. i'll attach some of my works so you can give reviews also. thank you so much.

though the area is small i want to make birds eye view but i cant do it. small spaces limits me to explore different views.foyer2.jpg

Idx will never compare to a high end render application. You are not too far off from the best that can be done with it. You should fine tune your selection of textures, bumping, and reflections. Start with different textures, then reflect and bump. Below is a example of a background image in sketchup (top) and a idx render (bottom). Not much better then your render. But IMO, it is a decent render in part because of the accessories. See the shoes, people, newspaper, plants, and unmade bed. Btw, don't forget to post process.
