Ok, I am panicking in here! I have this huge master plan developed in sketchup pro 7. and I want to import it to Vue 8.5 64bit, tried different formats ( obj, 3ds, dae) and every time the model is missing many many components, this is really frustrating. Any ideas? I have read that this has to do with the 64bit version.

    Kind Regards

Interesting. The .3ds format does not support a lot of polys - it just deletes everything ove a certain polycount. So it is not a viable format for large projects.

The other formats should not do that though.

On another note, Vue did just release the new SketchUp importer. Its only like $30 right now I think. You could buy that and see if it handles the exporting better.

Thanks Chris, very good piece of information. I think it’s ridiculous, you buy a $1500 software that won’t do the job, yet that extra $50 will. I think they are feeding on our frustration, which isn’t honest. Is there a free pluging that will do the job.

          What frustration?

Firstly E-on makes Vue, Dave Burdick made the Sketchup exporter.
Dave sells it as an independent content provider.

Before you bought Vue did you enquire about the Sketchup exporter? It works only with the 32 bit version as SU is only 32 bit (in the literature) and it works with SU6 only.
So what Dave did is create a better exporter, that not only exports the model intact, but also the cameras and the groups/components.

I also think that Dave has updated the exporter to handle larger SKP files.
