Newbie problem : fold rectangular with 3d text into circle

Hi All,
I'm not new to sketchup, but not very experienced either.
I want to design a set of silver rings with both 2 names on it in 3DI thought of starting with a rectangle size of the unfolded ring.
Then put 3D text on it.
Then 'fold' it to a ringCan you guys tell me how to do the 'folding' ? Is there a suitable plugin for that ?
I want the ring, and the text to have all rounded edges, so then once designed I can have it printed by a 3D printer in silver.Any suggestions ?
