Hello there !

I'm currently trying to have a miniature plane flying in front of the camera in a small room (Airfix Dogfighter like...) and I'd like to thank a lot Pixero and Fredo whose work is VERY handy.

I manage to have some kind of nice curve for my camera motion, I now need to see how I will animate my plane relatively to the camera... Scripts is the way to do that, I think.

Anyway, thanks a lot and continue the good work !

Hi there!

For an introduction you could go to the Official SU blog , since I am the most recent "Featured Modeler" in this blog. I was watching an online video about the Sketchup Basecamp (I dream to be there once). In the speech this SketchUcation site was mentioned. I had been visiting it already but registrated only today.
I am a fanatic Geo-modeler but want to learn more about rendering and Ruby things as well.
For dutch SUpers: I have a weblog .

Okay, I think I understand. You have an idea and would like to ask if somebody could write a plugin for that.

I think best would be to go to the Plugins Forum and start a new topic with the [REQUEST] word in the subject. Just like this one for example:

Hi everyone, I'm new new here. I recently downloaded the free version 8 and I am having problems getting plugins to work. Im on a PC with windows 7. Any help would be appreciated. I look forward to learning a lot here. Thanks!

Sketchup 8 is new and many plugins were designed based on either v6 or v7, unless otherwise noted. Some of these may not have been updated. Best to post your issue in the specific plugin thread/topic so that the author can respond and make suggestions and updates.

Please, write up a more detailed "report" about what is not working.

When I first installed SU 8, I slimply copied all my plugins from the respective folder of SU 7 to that of SU 8 and except for one plugin (which has been fixed ever since) everything worked as expected.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'm trying to get Housebuilder to work. I have created a new folder under plugins named Housebuilder and placed these three RB files in it: Housebuilder, Housebuilder_extension, Housebuilder Tool. Ive tried different variations of this as well as putting the RB files directly in the plugin folder. But I cant figure out how to open the tools in sketchup. I downloaded the files from Ruby Library Depot.

Please, have a look at this topic (there is a new version of housebuilder there) although that might not fit your needs. However the author of this new version (and maintainer of the Ruby Depot as well) may be able to help you (I do not use this plugin myself).

Post your question/problem there as he may not read all the posts in this subforum.

Heyo...whats the lag time in posting? I posted int he developers forum about a networking sockets workaround and my post either vanished into thin air or it's waiting approval by a mod...or it was deleted. Is this board moderated?

Glad to have found this forum.

I anticipate using SU far into the future for a project which my wife and I are working on. I look to be creating a city several times over to represent how it evolves through the years.

If there's anything I want, it is to figure out how to get other members of my family to be as enthusiastic about SU as I am! I know I will need as much help as I can get and I want them to be inspired to use SU as much as I want to.

I have similar ambitions (with my city). Have you checked this example out yet? (Download the Google Earth kmz file linked from the site). In GE, at the top left, there is the TimeLine slider...

Be prepared to have your way of seeing the world changed forever.
Because you will want to model everything around you.
If you happen to be handy with pencil and paper, 3d modeling will influence the way you draw, and most definitely the way you think.
