Complicated sculpture model
-
So... I think i am a bit in over my head with this but... I was looking to model this pretty complicated sculpture and then try to render it with Podium. (I attached a photo of the piece). I have other photos from different angles as well. Problem is... I don't even know how to begin to do this.
Any ideas?

Hi Longhorn,
Maybe you try it with the Curviloft plugins.

What is it?
Firstly I'd say use Z-brush, 3DCoat or Sculptris, and if you insist in using SU then try SDS (subdivide and smooth)
Secondly seeing as the material is very reflective, you will probably need an HDRi for reflections, not sure Podium has that option yet. -
I'd say it's a question of how accurate you intend to model it. If you want a perfect copy and you want to do it in SU, risk is high that you'll be ruining your nerves.
Like Solo says, a 3D sculpting software could make you much happier - Sculptris is free and I found it very easy to learn.
In case you're fine with something that looks similar, it could work out with the mentioned plugins (that are also fun to learn btw). Begin with tracing from the photo. Because you need to make the geometry according to the method you choose, do several testings first.
Have you seen this thread?

good luck

Solo, thank's for the "Sculptris", reference. Although I'll probably never us it for my primary work, it's really fun to use! It reminds me of a program from about '96, by Dazzle, maybe. But so much easier!
