Not a SU bug per say, but I can no longer export SU videos (from 7 or from my office system. When I hit the OK button, the progress bar comes up and SU crashes to the desktop. I have repaired SU, uninstalled and installed it, and Win system restored. The last effort works, but I have other problems with data files that have been moved to another drive on the system, after which were erased from the original drive. The file was so big that I elected not to place them in the recycle bin, especially since I had a copy on the other drive. The Win sys restore can not recover the erased data, and some how changes the copy on the other drive. Any suggestions before I resort to copying the files to a external drive, then restoring to the early point when animation still works. If I do this I lose all the work to get SU8 up and running, not to mention a whole bunch of other stuff that will have to be recreated. So, any help is appreciated. Btw, when you uninstall a program, isn't there residual information in the Win registry? Should (and how do) I remove this residual information before attempting a clean install? May be this doesn't matter. HELP!!!!

COPY the SU 8 folders Plugins and Tools to an external USBdrive before you uninstall.
After reinstall. Copy them back, overwriting the "new" folders.Uninstalling SU8 should wipeout all the registry settings (your user settings.) So you'll need to resetup the toolbar positions, after reinstall.

If you move files manually off of the System drive.. I would clear the MRU cache (aka "Recent Documents" )
Sometimes done thru (XP): StartMenu(right-click) > Properties(dialog) > Customize(button) > Advanced(tab) > ClearList(button)
Also Windows maintains MRU lists in the Registry for many applications.
Registry Cleaners can detect when MRU Registry entries point at files that no longer exist.MRU = MostRecentlyUsed

If you have Vista or Win7 there is online "FixIt" tools:

Thanks Dan, I will have to wait until Tuesday to give your suggestions a try.

How did things work out?
I was also going to suggest changing the filename of the "big" file... and then creating a new "small" file of the same name with say only 1 blank frame. Break the link (so to speak,) to the "big" file that you wish to keep as is.
Could your issue be caused by MS Media Player keeping the link to the "big" file in it's media libraries ?? (see if you can refresh the Library or manually delete the link to the file in the Library.)

Sigh..Still not able to export even a new 60 frame video. Don't know about MS media player. Would it affect creating a new video? Still I will try the flush.
Addenda 1: Nope ipconfig /flushdns didn't work. As lame as it sounds, I am hopping that the next Win auto upgrade will fix it. Something like that happened before, when my browser screen went *(&%$, I reloaded a upgrade, the upgrade failed, but the screen straightened out. I said "lame", didn't I
