IPhone 4 or HTC Desire?
-
In the market for a new know so I thought I'd delve in the to world of smartphones....
iPhone is the obvious one but the HTC Desire has been given very good reviews also; if not better than the apple.
Anyone have user time on either?
The HTC has the Google OS i believe but not sure what it's like....

Can't comment on either of the phones you're looking at because I've got the original Motorola Droid (with the Google OS) from Verizon, but I love my Droid. The ability to have my calendar, contacts, etc. synced with my Gmail account - automatically! - has been a real timesaver for me.
-
Thanks Alan, that's what I want to do; sync Gmail with my calendar. Which calendar do you use?
-
I use Google Calendar. It's not quite as robust as I'd like, but it syncs with my Droid and that's where I'm enjoying it the most.

N8 is worth to look on too. http://events.nokia.com/NokiaN8/ Not sure about it's availability yet, but they are taking pre-orders. Did see it live some time ago and looks like nokia is back in game.

I've got the Nexus One, which is basically the Desire with a trackball. I can really recommend it!
The Iphone 4 has, however, a bigger screen [600x900 vs 480x800] and the ability to record with HD format.
Someone at my work had the Iphone 4 and we compared the two [read: we named random functions our phone had, hoping the other party didn't have it] So those two point are [as far as I know] the biggest difference between the two phones.A pro for the Desire,... HTC Sense looks awesome
ps. if you want realtime updates of android the Nexus One is a good option [it's like the Desire, without Sence, with a trackball and slightly better looking]
Good luck with your new phone.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestion. I'll keep researching and let you know which way i end up.

apparently the iphone4 O2 contract is £50 a month in the UK! ridiculous!

I have an htc Desire which works very nicely. htc sense is smooth and intuitive, the screen is big and clear and with wifi, downloads are a breeze. Only downside for me is battery life which can be an issue if you have processor heavy applications. But some of the navigation/augmented reality apps are really amazing. But you may want to wait a little longer for the htc Desire HD which is a little more uber

If this is still in pending... maybe give a try also with Samsung Galaxy S. http://galaxys.samsungmobile.com/
