Photoshop Icon Plugin
-
I thought I shared this years ago but I cannot find it. Maybe it did not make the transfer from the old SUC.
If you want to make your own icons and have Photoshop, I used this free plugin to make them.
Just drop it in your Plug-Ins folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop(version)\Plug-Ins
After you do this the .ico format will show up in your file types. On my day job computer I have 2 versions of SU on my desktop, 6Pro and 7Free so it was easier to have different icons (management could not spring for the 7Pro upgrade). I just used the standard SU icon and placed a 7 over top of it. I also found it useful to make a desktop icon for my Ruby folder as I am always dropping new stuff in there. I have a SketchUcation folder so I made an icon for that... you get the point.
All you do is make an image that you want to have as an icon. Just make sure it looks nice at such a small scale. I make mine around 32 pixels square. It helps to have a transparent background as well unless you want a square icon. Then just save it as .ico format.I believe this only works for Windows so sorry Mac users if it does not work.
