sketchup will not import PDFs. You can change it to another image file type. Import into sketchup.
Then you must scale it using the tape measure tool. Then you will need to draw edges over it.

The Mac version (as far as I know but of course I may be mistaken) will. I do not know however what format (vector or raster) will it make through...

Anyway, under the link dedmin posted, maybe there is a more straightforward solution.

Thanks for all help everyone πŸ‘

I'm on mac and SU 7 free and it does import PDF's but not as vector, just as an image.
But with that plug-in for importing DWG/DXF and export graphic from Inkscape as DXF and importing it to SU worked good.
The imported graphic needed some fixing before i could extrude though since lines weren't connected.
I haven't tried the other ruby's for importing SVG directly into SU yet though.

But i'm happy knowing i can use Inkscape to make grahics and bring that into SU... Thanks guys.

This is a simple symbol from Inkscape, extruded in SU and rendered in Podium.

Is this importing of a PDF something only a Mac can do, because I know a PC can't import a PDF unless I have been overlooking something.

Yes, it's a Mac thing but not a deliberately made distinction by the SU folks but Macs support pdf's lot more widely than MS does. How on earth there is no native pdf export for even a Word document in the 21st century?

                      Gaieus,

Office2007 has PDF export built-in. PDF is ubiquitous, but it is still a format owned by Adobe. I understand Apple is paying Adobe for the benefit of building its UI on Postscript (A PDF file is a compressed and encrypted Postscript file).

Otherwise the best feature of Office2007 is that the horrible tabs can be collapsed.

Thanks Anssi, I did not know that (now back with my ranting).

CAN they? I used to have it for a couple of weeks when it was still downloadable as beta or something. The whole navigation system and stubborn pre-made menu-frustration was that made me uninstall it and never look back.
