Been meaning to do this for some time now. I used a replaceable sliding center panel, an idea I stole, I forget where. I'm trying to decide whether to make or buy hold-down clamps.

Nice work. It is good to have a larger work surface than comes with most drill presses, isn't it?

Very nice Wootton. I've seen more than one project using a sacrificial center panel. Some of them were dovetailed to hold them more securely into position. I used kreg small clamps for a miter saw staton I built recently and they work very well.

Great job. I just made one myself recently. I bought a couple of hold downs from Rockler; I'm sure you could make some easily enough.
