Testing their Beta, and IMO it's the beginning of something really interesting!

So I invite you to visit them and test for yourself. I think and hope our SU community can boost their developpement process. I was soon in contact with them , and argued on their interest to invest in Sketchup rather than another soft... 😉

I've tried it and it seems not worth in the performance at the moment...but it's a beta

I gave it a go and first thing I found was the render was zoomed out, even a clean scene rendered zoomed out.

I get constant crashes when using the material editor.

            Hi Solo,

Reading your post I wanted to find out what was happening regarding the crashes with the material editor, this is behaviour we haven't seen before. I will send you my details, please could you send me further information on what is happening.

Also regarding the render being zoomed out, in the Shaderlight render window we have a Zoom and Pan functionality. You can use the wheel on your mouse to zoom in and out of the render and the left mouse button and drag to pan round the render. This can be done while the image is rendering.

Burkhart: dont forget it's real time engine... Slow rendering is relative. I've tried it on a PC Vista Quad 8300 4GO and with low to mid complexity projects and speed is not so bad.
Solo: In my tests, material editor worked fine: ...as for pan and zoom in the render window (as explained above).

So far I've enjoyed trying it out. I have not used it for anything very intense. I also have not really gotten into the material editing too much either.

                But it is cool.

Lately you've been tan, suspicious for the winter.

Does seem pretty cool. Very nice to get on the fly rendering results as I model rotate and change materials. Does seem really dark inside a building even with a lot of windows. Might be nice to be able to turn the exposure up to see what is going on inside better.

Apperance is very nice with default material when looking at building exterior. Cool to get reflections out of this. Would be nice to add in basic ability to add our own lights, understanding of course that it would slow things down a lot.

archigrafix you're right about realtime rendering.
But Sketchup will not handle the updating quite well. It took a while until Sketchups UI is ready for working again and it seems it is short before crashing.
But I'm patient to wait for more stable versions

IMO For now it's not usable for interior renderings. I think it has to improve about that: something like real global illumination with light bounces and so... The addition of lights, mesh lights, but then as you say global performance should improve to make it still "real time" working(GPU+CPU use?).
...it still a béta but when I see possibility in their 3Dmax version, it's promissing
                      Burkhart and Solo
I dont get those crash or instability ...but I just tested with low or mid poly models
