IPhone 4G launched!
-
Hi Guys,
I see that Apple have now launched the iPhone 4G. There is a good video on the product here http://www.apple.com/iphone/design/#design-video
Scott Forstall, one of the presenters, said something that struck a cord with me, '.... look into their eyes and see how they are really doing ...'. One of my daughters is going to Austrialia for a year, back packing and working. As she is not going to bring her laptop I think the iPhone 4G would be the ideal communication device for her and us, her worrying parents!

Hhhmmmmmmmmm.....
Trying to think how i'll swing getting this and an iPad outta the missus?
Need ideas for Brownie points....fast!

The 4G is a long way from the first mobile I got and still have, the Sony CM-R111. At the time it was the bee's knees with its little flip out mic. At the time it was real Star Trek stuff As you can see it had no screen but again I only had to remember a dozen or so numbers. It those days people tended to memorise telephone numbers.

I've been waiting patiently for the iPhone 4.
The contract on my 3G finished in January and I decided not to get the 3GS and wait for the 4 and I'm glad I did.
Looking forward to getting my hands on it. -
looks like the one found in the bar and shown on youtube a couple months back wasn't a hoax after all.
looks pretty sweet! i wonderer what the memory options are? i would think it likely starts at 32Gig and up.

Just heard on radio on the way home that apple plan to release 64gb later this or early next year. Along with the iPad2!

Dear Mike,
My daughter is backpacking around the world at the moment, and she mostly uses email to keep in touch. She occasionally uses her iPod, and sometimes her mobile phone for sending texts. If your daughter is staying in the one country then her mobile and internet cafes should do fine, and phone cards for long chats with her dad.
My daughter sent me the attached photo today (Rosy going at the door at 15,000 feet over Lake Taupo, New Zealand). God she makes me proud!
Regards,
Bob

Yes Bob, its important to stay in touch on a weekly basis, even with a two line text. It helps to stop the worrying about them. I think my Mom still worries about me and she is 87!

Mike
Dont you mean Mammy?

Having looked at both the specs for iPhone 4 and HTC EVO, I am deciding on the EVO. There are more options that are in my 'like' column for the EVO over the iPhone.
YMMV

Check out this before you buy a 4G! iPhone 4 Glass β Will it break? http://www.ifixyouri.com/blog/?p=59
I don't like cladding my 3GS in those cases, it spoils the feel. I also like to keep the weight down as its normally in my shirt pocket .... all my shirts have a pocket
If this report is accurate there is a serious flaw in the design. I have dropped my 3GS on concrete on many occasions with no ill effects.
-
I dropped mine on my second day of having it and I cracked the screen. No issues for several weeks then the dreaded black out spread started and eventually took over half my screen.
I wouldnt have it without the case now.
-
just don't drop it! its not made for that!
-
Don't have one yet but will be when they're launched in OZ in a few months. A graphic designer next door has had two iphones and had to replace them both due to the screen smashing!!!!
And I'm with you in the case thing, Mike. Something so beautiful should be naked.

Guys, Seeing the iPhone 4 has been out a few months now what are your thoughts on that verses the HTC Desire? From what I've read the Desire is the closest smart phone to knocking off apple...
A few reviews:
