Doing 2 DXF imports: one after the other.

1st DXF import comes in UN-grouped
2nd DXF import comes in grouped

I find this very annoying because it can take a very long time to ungroup a DXF file depending on the number of faces it contains. If this it not a BUG it should be.

      Hi Tomot,

There is a reason behind this. When you import anything into an empty model space, it comes in ungrouped as SU supposes that you want to start working with the geometry right away.

However when there is already something in you model and you imported anything ungrouped, it could be unpredictable what edges/faces merge with what already existing geometry causing unwanted results.

As a workaround, you can import your second set into another file then copy it and paste (or "Paste in place) in your original model.

I can understand that reasoning. I always create a new layer, as soon as I have imported a new object, then transfer that object to the new layer, that way the second import will never interfere with the first import. Naturally if these are very large poly intense imports, the 2nd grouped object, can take hours to un-group. I've never bothered waiting for this to happen. 😄

However Google could easily fix this! They could simply add some create layer coding prior to each import, hence the user would never have a problem either.
        cheers!

why of course he still would. layers don't work the same way they do in autocad. Putting things on different layers does not prevent them from cutting through one another.
