That's really a local thing. If you can find local businesses that would be interested, you could also get them to "sponsor" you modelling activity. Let's imagine a "business plan" like this:

As we know, you cannot use GE for advertising and such. But nothing stops you to advertise (or list local businesses) on your own website. Make a website (a simply blogging software like WordPress or Blogger is a perfect tool) and when you upload a model, add the basic description in the Warehouse but include a link to a post on your website. Now here you can list what businesses, shops, banks etc. are located in that particular building for instance and get these businesses pay for some money for inclusion, maybe for more spectacular appearance there and so on.

Sooner or later you can already pre-negotiate with these businesses what to model next etc.

Building a cathedral? Get a nearby business "+sponsor" it and you can put the name there something like "this model was made with the help of the corner McDonalds" or something.

Small plan but can be developed.

Could you expand on this a little please, in what context do you "advertising"?

Well, imagine you create content (bubbles) for GE purely for advertising.

Also, read the very first paragraph of the acceptance criteria for 3D Models for GE: "Models should not contain advertising or spam" for instance. (click on the "read more" link).

Ah right, but if you were to model, say, a hotel, you could still use the tags for keywords and SEO etc?

Yes, sure. Also, if a company logo IS on the building, it should NOT be rejected for advertisement at all if you do not "photoshop" it off the photo. Although I have seen "misunderstandings"...

I know many people that dont even know GoogleEarth. Isnt it kinda hard to convince companies to sponsor GE related stuff when few people might be using it?

Well, some 600,000,000 people DO use GE. Concentrate on them. And make that 600,000,001st user (business) be the next one use it.
                      😉

Look; "marketing" is not about what others need but about what you can/do offer and making them believe that they also need that.

Here is an example of what Gaieus is talking about. I did this for my brother in law's practice.

                        Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

                        favicon

600 million people use GE? I find that HARD to believe. Maybe that number uses GoogleMaps apps (many of which dont even have the 3D option) Do you have the numbers for Brazil?

Well, I remember reading this number somewhere on a Google website (I cannot find now) the other day. And no, this was for GE only. Maybe it's a download number (which can be misleading as I have downloaded GE a couple of times myself during the past years) but also I can imagine that Google is able to "count" how many applications run as they all work on the net streaming the data.

The number 600 million were counts of unique activations of the Google Earth program. And are accurate. I believe those are global numbers.

Between home and work I have 3 computers with google earth on and each of them has had GE installed at least twice (as a result of reformating the HD) so I alone take up 6 of that 600 million. I should imagine I am far from the only one.
