Components bug?
-
It is very interesting when I downloaded dynamic component as a dynamic window from Warehouse [GlasFront_3] and I open the sketchup file it works fine but when I choose from the component's list it is lost the feature of dynamic. As well as If I merge my scene after modification its all of material change and become one. So So anoying has someone an advice?

Well (let's go on in English), when a DC is uploaded into the warehouse and you open it as a file, the component is inside the file. But when you import it via the component browser, the file itself is regarded as a component (as an outer shell for the inside DC) and the DC is inside that component. You can overcome this by exploding the outer shell and that way "reaching" the DC inside.
In other words (and not only with dynamic components); components are just regular skp files "embedded" into your model. You can even "export" them by right clicking and "Save as...". Remember where you save them, go there and open the component just to see that they are now just a simple file (without being a component inside the file).
At the beginning of dynamic components, they could not be uploaded to the Warehouse as simple SU files but only if you saved them as a separate file, went to that file and uploaded it "from inside". That was a tedious process and many just uploaded the skp file containing that DC.
Since SU 7.1, you can right click on a component and upload it as a file. This will appear as a normal, downloadable component in the component browser but if you download it as an skp file,it will "lose" its dynamic features "from inside".
I am not sure if I am clear enough so if not, I will try to explain it better.
I do not understand that last, material part...

..
when you drag some dynamic component from the file manager to the sketchup windows, it seems to lose its dynamic characteristics
your explanation solves the problem: just explode once the dynamic component you just dragged into sketchup, and the dynamic characteristics are available again
thank you, this is a big help
but how do you make sure in the first place when you register the component, that it is "just a file", and not a "component in a file" ?
