Black transparent borders when exporting animation
-
yes, I have installed Thea plugin for sketchup. It could have some sense? Actually the old scenes in that model work and they were set before installing the plugin. But if I make a test with a new model, from scratch, everything is ok...
-
Also, there is "FixAspectRatio" at Smustard's:
http://www.smustard.com/script/FixAspectRatioBut that should actually do the same trick as thomthom's snipplet.
Indeed there are rendering plugins that do this(an earlier version of Twilight for instance). Very useful if you need it - can indeed be annoying when you don't
-
So the only way to fix my problem with this model is to temporarily unistall Thea plugin or is there something else?

I'm not sure it is Thea plugin. Most of the renderers that do this work from inside SU. Maybe ask Tomasz (author of the plugin) if he knows anything about it.
Have you tried the smustard plugin I linked above?
Edit: I tried to export something with a different aspect ratio as my SU window to Thea and it did not put these bars in.

Yes, thank you for the link. I tried it and the bars disappeared from my view while working (I "refreshed" my scenes after applying the plugin and they seemed to be fine) but come back when exporting animation. (also tried to "freeze" thea plugin putting it in a zip file but is the same).
EDIT: Actually, while working in the 3d model, when the image is still now the aspect ratio is ok. But when I pass from a scene to another. During the transition the borders come back. When the image is "stopping" the borders now disappeare again.

If you have set custom camera by SU2Thea, simply change camera back to original (SU2Thea exporter > Scenes > SU Window in view parameters).
-
That's what I also suspected but when I set it to something else than my current aspect ratio, I did not get those bars. Should I have?
-
Also, you now have those bars set in each scene. So everytime you click on to a different scene, it re-enables the bars. You will need to go through and remove the bars from eaxh scene then update the scene one by one. Unless someone has a snippet to do that automatically...
-
Thanks for your support,
at the moment the only thing that seems to be working is to set the thea exporter ratio scene at 800x600 (the ratio I nedd in my animation) and update each scene.

Try this snippet. paste it into the ruby console and hit enter (please save your model first, I don't want to be blamed if this goes wrong (which it should not, its a safe little snippet, but you never know!))
Sketchup.active_model.pages.to_a.each { |e| e.camera.aspect_ratio = 0.0}
That should clean up all pages automatically.
Chris
EDIT: By the way, that should all be input as a single line of code.

Thank you Chris. I'll try it
