MODEL COPY AND CHANGE TROUBLE

HELLO guys
I need A little help. I have one model of a roadsign. (i am modeling a city) The road signs are Copied from the 3d warehouse.If I wanto to copz paste the models and change the textures on the copyed model it aslo changes the thexture on the source model in .everything is in one scene.So i klik to Edit texture ...i made the changes ..and the changes alied to the copz are made aslo to the original.How can specifz not to use the same txture file if I edit it ...or wha is the solution here .

Before you edit it, right click (context click) the new copy and choose to Make Unique. Now you can edit the new one and the original will not change.

Only important thing they forgot is how to un-group or 'un-component'. That's done by rightclick on the group or component and selecting Explode.

What if the texture is uneditable ..for xample I have this junction which is clearly made of 5 Road pices into one model.And I want to change the texture but there is no menu item for it.Any ideas??

There may be some softened edges dividing the faces there. Turn on hidden geometry to check this out (View menu). Also, if the face bearing the texture is inside a group/component, you need to dig down to the face (edit the group).
