I was wondering if anyone can point me to a method or begining process of modeling this chair. My first thought of course is to use photo match, but there practically is no good corner to start with. I have access to the chair and could raise the tablet and shoot other photos to help me.

      Thank you in advance.20090918_0008a.JPG

I know it's soon to say so, but, awe, no takers? I don't blame you.

Since you have access to the chair, why not just take measurements and draw it from scratch? ...start with the feet, and work your way up - it may help you to model each piece separately then put them together. Fredo6's RoundCorner plugin will be invaluable for this model.

how precise does it need to be? I mean you could model every nook, cranny and every subtle edge BUT! If you are putting 1300 of these in a theater. . .and in any one view see only about 1/2 of that chair . . . . . . .Less could really be more!

If I make it look easy...It is probably easy

              David,

Yes, I have the chair you posted. It doesn't have to be that detailed, but I will have rather close views of it. I'd like to eventually have a fairly close representation, shape, color and tablet. That'd be my goal.

Thanks for your input. I just didn't know if I could start modeling by using photos the I've taken and how to begin.

Marcus, yes, I may just have to from scratch. I was trying to think of a shortcut like photomatch. Appreciate your response too.

You might find it worthwhile checking out Sketchup Show #27 on You Tube which is about modelling a chair in photo match.
