Newbie - skp into TurboCad?
-
Hi, must be a common question, import export alternatives but I have just started using sketchup7. I design cabinets and small building structures (pergolas sheds etc). I've been using other old cad progs for decades bryce truespace 3dmax and turbocad. I was looking for a simple program to start my initial designs and cutting sheets that I could then import. Turbocad(using deluxe14)has my favoured printspace setup for technical hardcopy. Thinking that I could import skp I went ahead and designed in skp. Now I find that nothing is there when I extract from skp. Any ideas? Thanks one and all.

Not quite understanding, Sketchup can do it all I believe, there really should not be any need for a secondary app.

Thanks for your reply. I am particularly fond of my tabbed print setup in Tcad. I cant see any similar function in SU. Also the thumbnails opening. Usual scenario... just open and say Umm where was I? But as I said am real nooob so maybe missing something?

The cad program that can do a SKP import ,and is simular to Turbocad ,is the Doublecad free version.
It can open your turbocad drawings to.Bep

We have just gone from TurboCAD to SketchUp and i will NEVER go back!
You can have a similar 'tabbed' setup on SketchUp by making use of the Scenes .... http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=39656 may shed some light on it....
