      Could someone get me started drawing basically a solid rivet with a groove in it (a hitch pin).

        Hi Chu - the Follow-Me Tool will make quick work of it.

        Draw the profile, draw a circle which defines the path, select the Follow Me tool, then select the profile.

            I use Camtasia Studio 3 which I got for nothing on special last year - it's very good even if it is 4 years old software.

            I haven't found anything free that is nearly as good or easy. I wish there was.
