Well, depends what kind of animation you are talking about. Some fairly simple animations - yes. You can totally do that with the Pro version using dynamic compnents. For more complex animations, its really not the best program for that.

Lately you've been tan, suspicious for the winter.

        Hi,

Is it possible to put buttons in a model and whenever we click on them an animation starts to play? Can I do it in sketchup?

        Thanks

Yes you can use the component as a button if you know how to use ruby observers, web dialogs and basic javascript.

OR you could try Sketchy Physics, need a little practice to do that though...

Actually, I will have an microscope model and three butons on it, when I click each of them I will animate the inner part of how the electrons move through the specific part. So, which one do you think will be the best solution? Thank you very much.

Depends on what you know or how much you want to learn. Clicking a button in a dialog box would be easier than clicking in the display - eliminates need for observer (don't know about SP). Try either or both!

I couldn't quite understand what you mean by clicking on the dialog box? Can you explain it more briefly? Thank you very much

You could make some buttons in a web dialog like a control panel for your microscope something like this.

So, will it appear on the web page or on the animation? Sorry, I am just a beginner.

How about you post a picture of what you want. I would be happy to overlay a dialog box to help you visualise the proposal.

I couldn't copy paste my model but this one is close to my model. And what I want to do is to add three buttons near the body of the microscope and when I press them I want to see the animation of how the electrons move through (which I have already made). I hope it is more clear right now. Thanks for your time and care.

I'm afraid the image is broken but anyway here is a pic of three buttons in a dialog box.microscope control.png

the image did not show up. the url is http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=98b7350d291705f54445badf3edabb2c&prevstart=0. I think you misunderstood me. I mean I want to put three buttons on the animation in a vertical way right next to the body of the microscope.

You can design the dialog any way you like except it will always have a titlebar and borders. My point was that if you can accept having a dialog you don't need to learn about tricky observers that would be required if you want to initiate action by clicking directly on parts of the model.

Ok, I got the point now. Dialog box is not really the way that I want to do but if I choose it, how will I attach the animation to that? Can it be done in sketchup? Also, for the observer thing, can it also be done in sketchup and cdo they have tutorials about it? Really thank you very much

Have you tried just using three scenes and Sketchup's built in controls. If not I am sure there are plenty of tutorials on Youtube and other such places. Other than that I don't think I can be much help.

Good luck! Post it when finished.
