I have this dell computer in my college lab. on workin' with sketchup on it... sketchup doesn't recognise faces as expected .... i've installed its graphic drivers... but the problem persists... I'm using sketchup pro 7.1 on it....I've attached a video of this problem... I've used thomthom selection toys so that it shows that which faces are highlighted when i hover my cursor on one.....Every dell model in this lab that is the optiplex one has this problem....

But this happens while editing a group only... loose geometry behaves fine...

try if disabling "Window > Configuration/Settings (?) > OpenGL > Fast Feedback" and/or "Hardware Accelertation" helps.

if yes, the OpenGL support of the video subsystem (which?) resp. the used video driver (which?) is lame.

According to Dell brochures, this model comes with either an Intel GMA on-board graphics chip, or one of three models of lower-end ATI Radeon graphics cards. The Intel graphics don't support OpenGL hardware acceleration, and the problems you describe point to this direction. If the graphics card is an ATI one, you may be in more luck, but you would have to look for a suitable driver, possibly from the ATI pages. ATI cards have had their problems with SU, but I understand many users have been able to use them OK with SU.

if ATI isn't able to provide a working driver, the quality-moded OmegaDrvier is always worth a try.
