Exploding views
-
I am new to sketchup (6 weeks) and am using it for a cabinetmaking course. I have drawn a coffee table with components. I now want to explode the coffee table. I have highlighted the table and chosen the exploded view but nothing much happens, certainly not an explosion of the components of the table. What am I doing wrong, how do I explode the table correctly.
thanks

I am not really sure what you expect from an "exploded view" but I am pretty sure you cannot get it (in SU) if you explode the components.
I guess (but am not sure) that you want a certain kind of laid out pieces of all the parts - am I correct?

Thanks. Yes I was looking for a view of all the components of the coffee table separated from each other. It is shown in the Fine Woodworking Magazine of No/Dec 2008?

It seems that unless I have Pro 7 version and therefore can create dynamic components that I can't go down the exploded view as shown in the answer from dedmin. Is there another option, other than doing a copy of the componets onto the same "sheet"?
Cheers

Nope, you do not need to have the pro version to use that plugin. You don't do anything with dynamic components. It uses regular components or groups, which can both be made in the free version.

The term is misleading. Just as you can make a component you can also "unmake" it. It does not look any different; just sheds the characteristics of a component.
How about ...
Put each copy on its own layer. Explode and manually move the pieces of one copy into an exploded view. Make two new scenes each with one of the layers turned off.
