How to lock axis to retrace imported drawing
-
Hi all
I like to retrace a 2D plan. Importing no problem however the x,y, z axis
are never straight therefore I have always a small distortion. Is there any way to fix this.Fred

Are you facing straight down at it?
If you stick to the the top view looking down and don't rotate it will should quite well.
Unless your are tracing an elevation then the standard SU views seem to help.

Patrick I can face down but one axis is always on a small slant. I have used blender and I never had this problem because you had three different windows for each axis. Anyway I will try again, thanks

You can re-oreient the access to the plane of your imported drawing if it is off.
Axis tool and you click on the borders, it shouldn't be off if you imported it to a standard (on axis) face.
You can lock the inference by the ctrl key too (??)
I have got frustrated with this on occasion, your tracing away thinking everything is fine and no faces form.

You need Ortho projection. Turn this on with the menu item Camera > Parallel Projection and view you image from the top.
The slant you are seeing is only present in Perspective view.
