SketchUp with Linux

Hello everyone
I searched and could not find SketchUp for Linux. Anyways is there a Linux program available that is similar to it? I'm doing basic information about SketchUp with Linux.

Plz any guides and any suggestions?

Hi,
I think that a Linux version of Google SketchUp isn't available. But you can run it on Linux using Wine.

while tinkering with ubuntu i tried to get a wine istallation of sketchup up and running. The good news is that it can be done and i works ok. The bad news is that most of the most advanced plugins do not work under linux, but the simple ones do.

I've been reading this thread with some interest. A number of problems with WINE can be solved by either tweaking the applications in the WINE configuration dialog and/or using winetricks: http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks in install a few native Windows .dll and .ocx files.

Currently, I've got SU7.1, SketchyPhysics 3RC1, Twilight Renderer, SU2POV, POVRAY 3.62, SU2KT, Kerthythea 2008 and a whole bunch of plugins working just fine under Xubuntu 9.10 and WINE 1.1.39.

The only "nagging" issue I have is the "Inspector" and "Control" windows in SP3 aren't displaying the joint information and I'm pretty sure it's a missing .dll. The physics still seem to work correctly on rigged models I've tested.

What particular plugins are you guys having issues with?

There was a similar thread not too long ago about SU/Linux. I'll recommend the same thing, try installing Winedoors. It has a list of programs that it will install automatically, and SU is one of them. I have it installed and working just fine on Ubuntu 64bit, along with many plugins.

Its possible absolutely , via Virtual box.

1. Make a small version of xp sp3, running nLite:
2. Make a bootable SDHC card, 2GB will do, (this is quite a challenging process)
3. Install XP sp3 from cd rom to the bootable SDHC card.
4. Boot XP sp3 from the SDHC USB drive
5. Install Sketchup to the XP sp3 OS
6. Boot Ubuntu from HDD, run XP SP3 via virtual box, within Ubuntu
7. Run Sketchup
8. Viola! now isn't that cool!

Yes you are right tomot.
I'm using Linux just 3 year
and i'm run my windows XP in VMware workstation .......

It's too good about Virtual box
you try it ...........
