How do I make a strap around an object

Hi.
I have been playing around with a new model that has some cargo and now I'm wondering, how can I make a strap around an object, to secure the cargo?
I have tried it on another model where I placed a strap 1mm away from the cargo, but it took a while to make.
So, any tips/plugins I could use to secure the cargo of this model?

Strap is ment to go around the pipe ofc.

Tools on surface is a good plugin for this.

The plugin is working now and the tip from dedmin also works great. Never thought about doing it that way
