Scaling and re-sizing a DC

Hi All. I am very new to DC's and trying to create a component that once I have scaled it, it will automatically create additional components that are not longer than a set value. Attached file is a "lattice beam" which has a manufacturing length of 4 meters and is used as floor plate for building. I would like to scale along red axis and automatically create a new beam every 4 meters. Any help would be greatly appreciated
