Dual Installation

I have SU V7 pro installed (Vista) and for specific reasons would like to also install the 'Free' version (also V7)to run seperately on the same PC.
Would the method outlined here also be the method I need to follow to do this?

I think you do not even need to go through that hassle. You should be able to installed 7.1 Pro and free side by side without doing anything more than just installing them both.
The side by side installation instructions there are for if you want to have different builds of the same version installed. Like 7.0 and 7.1 and the different 7.1 maintenance releases, mostly for testing purposes.
But maybe someone could verify that 7.1 Pro and Free really do install side by side without overwriting eachother. Its been a while since I've installed a free version of SU.

Well, Chris, no. They would overwrite each other if you just "simply" install them. It was SU 5 when you could do that last time.
I am not sure if the method (for installing different builds) would work with it. I guess it should but my guess is "as is..." and no warranties...
Since the different builds write different registry key in the Windows system, they can co-exist. I do not know what registry key do the free and pro versions differ in the same build therefore I am not sure if it were a good idea.
If you had SU 7.0 Pro installed, there would be no problem with installing 7.1 Free.

Well look at that, I was waaaay off! Thanks for explaining that Gaieus. So it looks like copying it off into another folder as explained in my post linked to above is neccessary.

Thanks guys.
I have a second PC in the office on which I can try it next time I am there (snowed in at home at present) and see what happens.
