Farewell to My Very Sweet Friend
-
Oh we are definitely going to get another Dog. it's just that right now we are in the process of moving and building a new home. (that could've been a great cause of anxiety to Phoebe --she has only known the home where she lived--who knows what she sensed?)
But suffice it to say that when we are settled in about a year from now or so, we will be adopting again.

Wait! Where the render of the new home?
Rick

I have a render. . .but I did it a long time ago when I wasn't very good. (Im not very good now, but back when I was worser. .. ) it's kinda down and dirty but it conveys the idea. If you look closely at the back door you see Phoebe (or rather a facscimile of her) sitting there. Alas. . .she won't be there. . . .neither will that patio.

Your house looks pretty good David!
Keep up the good work! -
We are very excited about it. It's been in the works for 2 years-- we should've been in it by now, and all the Christmas stuff was put in storage in 08. But circumstances made it not to be.
Thanks for your good words.

Sorry to hear of your loss, David, we lost Kerby just a few weeks ago as well... no more walkies.
-
Thanks Fletch. she was great.
-
Okay .. .this was sent to me by a co-worker hoping it would cheer me up a bit. It did, and yet, the tears still came. I defy anybody to watch this without choking up.
Waiting for SantaI MISS MY DOG!!!!

I'm calling the SPCA, those folks left their dog outside in the middle of winter with snow on the ground!
Cute vid.

I know, when something like that happens to you then you get something like this really kills you.
-
Hi,
On the night of Monday the same fate befell us. Our 14 years old dachshund girl went into the happy hunting grounds. It creates a huge void and a pain as if a child passed away. It will take some time until we have processed it.

Karlheinz. . .I am very sorry for your loss. It is a big deal. We've both lost members of the family. It hurts but as we are finding out . . .when we think of Phoebe, we laugh more than we cry. That helps a lot.

Folks, if you can torrent it or whatever, the latest BBC Horizon science programme is about dogs and their relationships with humans. It was an excellent documentary, just don't let your daughters see it, because they will forever pester you to get hold of a domesticated silver fox!!

How research into dogs is giving scientists a greater understanding of human behaviour.

Thanks for your words David.

Sorry to hear about your dog Karlheinz. Yep, it takes time but I am sure you will find a new 'pack' member again.
My daughter gave me 'CESAR'S WAY' for Xmas. I am half way through it and am finding it a very enjoyable and informative read. I liked Cesar Millan the first time I saw him on TV in the Dog Whisperer. He has a very special understanding of how dogs tick and I have learned a lot from watching him in action. His book has opened a total new understanding of dogs for me.
Silver Fox! I must definitely check out that BBC program if I can get may hands on it.

Hi Mike,
thank you also for your kind words.
At present we are not sure whether we buy another dog again. But maybe I'll be looking at this book anyway. I've just found German translations of this author.Karlheinz

You may not think you will at present but once a dog has become part of the family (pack) its very difficult to get by without a four legged member.
Good to hear Cesar's book is in German. You will enjoy it as there is a lot to be learned from it. What I have learned and has stuck to date is that dogs see us though there noses before there eyes. And they learn about us though our 'energy' firstly. Dogs CANNOT be tricked or fooled. The best thing about them is that they DO keep us 'grounded' and in touch with nature if we let them.
