      Great find. πŸ‘

It would be a nice SCF group effort to convert the most usable stuff into Sketchup models we can use on the spot.
I for one like to volunteer to convert some of the PNG images to SU models.

I was thinking about the same thing. Eeven furter, why couldn't we use the 3D Warehouse (and create a collection for it) so that it gets even bigger spotlight than if they are simply attached to SCF (Guests cannot fownload it anyway).

Maybe the SCF community could contact them and we could 'give' them these sketchup files to upload on their site?
As long as it can remain for free off course.
It would be a nice community gesture and perhaps Grannyart will like the idea to become a SU ressource as it will increase the traffic they receive....

I've written her an email already - anything can come out of this.

              Hi guys,

A bit of heads up here. I started to convert the images into 2D components as I am at a stage with a project where I need stuff like this anyway (some are Face-me while others not - as the subject dictates it).

              You can find them here:
              http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/cldetails?mid=4555dc184759247ac19773ea4151b25b

Note that the image files are huge so they may tax your video card but I didn't want to "optimise" them - everyone can shrink them to their needs (open the component > Right click on the face > Texture > Edit texture image and downsample - upon saving, it will instantly update in SU).
Also there are no cutout versions (I will render them anyway so won't even bother with shadows).
Finally, they are uploaded as components and should be downloaded as such (i.e. straight into your model or save them first and import them).

Here is a shot with three ivy veins I have uploaded so far (their origin/insertion point is set 5 cms/2" behind the face so can be conveniently inserted in front of a wall by snapping to the wall or its edge).

Man I was keen for the grass in the first post mate but it seems to have gone from the warehouse now! 😞

                  There was some issue

                  1. with the compression of the image file (I screwed up)
                  2. with uploading components straight from inside a model (it is fixed now).

I will upload it again but actually here it is:
                  http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=81024baa007199eba30fc8ca6ca5b07c

You can see the issue (the uploader didn't make a thumbnail of it) and see the poor image quality from close, too (although true that you don't necessarily render grass from very close).

So I just didn't include it into this collection yet as I want to make it really good - as it was by the creator of the images.

                    Thanks mate!

Im currently working on a way to model lower poly 3d plants that will produce better result when rendered and avoid that single plane look or the problem where thin geometry tends to disappear when viewed from the side.

I'll post some results soon I hope!

Quick test on the idea I have considered, still needs to be perfected - a lot!

Though wow didn't think it would be so fast to create plants, wish I had done it years ago!
