Is the projectedness (whether or not a texture is projected) stored with the material or with the face?

On the face. You can have the same texture projected on one face and non-projected on an adjacent face.
Why is it important to know? No one has aver asked before.

I wanted to know because a) I wasn't quite sure what "projected texture" meant when I asked the question (but now I do) and b) I was curious if I sampled the projected material and then painted another face, if the projectedness would be copied to the new face.
