Thanks Alan, this will definately be a good resource to point people to.

Thank you ever so much, Alan. Just use your tut to guide me through installing some new wood grain.

Alan, any plans to get the FF Installer working again for version 6? It was a really useful tool.

Excellent... thanks soo much for the contribution.

How about components?
-
I understand this from the old forum, but no one has answered my question about components yet

Thank you Alan, now I can keep my materials in SU and not have to import each time.
Cheers, Bill.

Hi Alan (or anyone else)
Is there a way to distort an image in SketchUp so that it will stay that way after tiling?
For example, I have an image of an area of bricks that is distorted from the camera's perspective. It can be scaled, but the perspective remains. Placing as a texture allows you to adjust the texture to a specific area, but it doesn't tile any differently. The image can be scaled X & Y, but not along an edge, no?
Is PhotoShopping the only way to get the original image to look right after tiling?
TIA...

Yes, you will need to photoshop it so it is all squared up, and tileable. There are some good tutorials here on the forum for doing that I believe.

Thanks Chris
I skewed and cropped and squared up the image in PS, then imported and exploded per Alan's comments. Worked great.
Getting the color to match was a bit tedious, but by messing with the values in the image editor, saving and reloading a few times, the textures on all the components updated instantly throughout.
SU is amazing....
