          Quick and dirty...

1 - Draw a box the same size as the chair you want to make.
2 - apply the photo to the front of the box.
3 - use the line tool to draw the shapes.
4 - use push pull as needed

clean it up as needed using the tape tool to measure things and adjust them to uniform size

Well I had some time tonight agrazdi so I had a go at a tutorial for you.

First let me say the best way to learn how to draw a chair is to measure one physically. If you can find a chair made similarly to this one that would be best. Note how it is put together. As well you should model each part of the chair as if you were going to build it for real. At least that is how I approach modeling in SketchUp.

Ok, so here is the final result as well as a the SketchUp file tutorial. It is not perfect but I think it illustrates the point well. Just follow the scene tabs. If you have trouble with any of the steps just ask and I hope I can answer. That or someone else might chime in if I am unavailable.

            Hope it helps.
            Cheers.

P.S. I just noticed I did not flare the top rail out. I figure I would point it out before Pilou does πŸ˜’ πŸ˜‰

I played with this for a sec. Chris' Shape bender and Fredo's Freescale tool will help as well. Draw it straight on as usual and then bend and taper with the plugins. Should go just fine.

              Bonne Chance, mon ami.

If I make it look easy...It is probably easy
