Cloud.rb by D.Burr Problem
-
Hi,I am trying to import a point cloud using cloud.rb
I am using sketchup pro 7.1
when I open the plugin I get to the point where I click the origin and nothing happens,
accept I get a red square appearing when I hover over any of the axis.
Can anyone help please. -
Hi,
Are the imported (created) points not too far from the origin? Maybe zoom to extent and make a selection for all (Shift+Z then Ctrl+A) to see if there is anything anywhere at all.
Also, check if something is placed onto a hidden layer (I cannot remember now how the plugin works but it used to work for me).A red bounding box (by default) would mean that something is in there but locked. I have no idea how that happens as I cannot recall the plugin locking anything (however of course maybe I just never used that function).

Thanks Gaieus,
The box is not a bounding box. When I click on the origin point (or any other point) to create an insertion point for the point cloud the script seems to stop working. Has anyone else had any trouble with cloud.rb in 7.1pro
Cheers David. -
To tell the truth, I haven't used it in v 7.1 yet (whether it's pro or free, shouldn't matter).
Can you share the data file?
-
I originally tried with the data file which came with the zip file containing the script.
but had the same result with this file which I made up. it only contains 8 points which should construct a cube. The following is a simple example data file. -
Yes, you are right, it doesn't work in 7.1 however does in 7.0. Of course, triangulation and creating mesh with a cube, which has points above each other, is a bit buggy but I believe that a topo would come out nice.
I remember this particular plugin always have problems with new versions. I'll try to contact Didier although haven't seen him around for months (some time in the summer, he "announced2 that he would go for a holiday but now it's cold already here)
Edit; here is the result from SU 7.0

Thanks Gaieus,
Can I run sketchup 7 and sketchup 7.1 on the same platform or is this not possible.
Regards, David. -
Read this sticky on the top of this forum about hoqw to run both on the same machine (that's how I could test it, too - interestingly, I have just deleted the desktop icon of SU 7.0 today so I had to dig for it in my Program files folder.)
